Johanson’s work plays between the techniques of figuration and abstraction, as he sees these two modes of working as interconnected expressions of the complexities of environmentalism, compassion, and peaceful co-existence.
    Built around these same ideals, the Vans x Chris Johanson Destruct SF intends to bridge the gap between surf classics and new styles like the UltraRange, while also thinking forward toward renewable resources and sustainability. Made with 100% organically grown cotton uppers and 100% jute fiber laces, this low-top shoe combines Johanson’s abstract aesthetic with a construction that you can feel good about. We’ve even engineered an all new eco rubber compound made from responsibly sourced natural rubber instead of petroleum-derived synthetic rubber, making our legendary grip and durability more eco-friendly.
